For the COT January meeting, COT members celebrated by having fun at a Whirlyball court. Whirlyball is a game made up of elements from basketball, lacrosse, and bumper cars. The goal is to drive your ball while holding a ball in a lacrosse stick, and throw it to hit a board to score points.
Teams were made in advance, and the first round was all about learning how to control the cars. It was fun, and people regularly slammed into walls, each other, or simply got stuck. However, a few rounds in, people started to get the hang of it, regularly starting to score and pass to each other. Many highlight goals were made! Between rounds, participants gorged on the delicious chips, fruit, and pizza that had been generously prepared by the adult supervisors.
Later, people began to pick their own teams, even having some moms join in during a girls vs boys matchup. As cars slammed and drove by with a whizz, time passed quickly and our time at the whirlyball place was up!
The fun night ended with the supervisors handing out red packets that contained bills to all the attendees. Many spent it immediately at the arcade near the whirlyball court!
All in all, it was an amazing event!
